Student Travel Grant Program

The US National Science Foundation is sponsoring student travel grants for IEEE RFID/AMES/DTPI that cover the cost of registration and up to $500 of reimbursed travel expenses. These grants are available to US-based applicants that meet the following criteria:

  1. Applicant is a US citizen, permanent resident, or student with a lawful visa pursuing an accredited Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in engineering or related field in a US-based college or university at the time of application. Post-doctoral researchers also qualify.
  2. The student must submit an application to the travel grants chair, Prof. Andrew Peterson (afpeterson@gatech.edu) that includes the student’s current curriculum vitae and planned presentation type.
  3. The application must include a letter (email is fine) from the applicant’s current research adviser explaining the value of conference attendance to the professional development of the researcher as well as a statement to cover any remaining travel expenses.
  4. The applicant must present a paper, poster, demo, workshop talk, tutorial or participate in some form of interactive event at the conference.
  5. If selected for a travel grant, the student will receive a complimentary registration code. After the conference, non-local students should submit all of their eligible travel receipts (hotel, airfare, local transportation) for reimbursement. Up to $500 of these expenses will be reimbursed – an amount that will depend on the number of applicants relative to the availability of funds.

For additional questions involving the NSF travel grants program for this conference, please contact Prof. Andrew F. Peterson (afpeterson@gatech.edu).
